THIS INDENTURE Made this first day of may in the Year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and seventy five. BETWEEN James Robinson of
Letterkenny Township Cumberland County and Province of Pennsylvania and Mary
his Wife of the one part, And James Finley of the Township, County, and
Province aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH, Whereas there was a Warrant
granted from the Honourable the Proprietors of this Province unto a certain
Alexander Mitchel for one Hundred Acres of Land, Situate in the township of
Letterkenny aforesaid, formerly Lurgan Township, said Warrant was dated
February the sixth, one thousand Seven Hundred and fifty five, and Bounded
by Lands of George Kinsor formerly Gavin Mitchels on the South and the above
said James Finley land formerly the property of a Certain John Kerr on the
North the aforesaid Mitchel sold said Land to a Certain Thomas Boyd in the
Year of our Lord 1756 and upon the first of August, and said Boyd Conveyed
said Land unto the aforesaid James Robinson by Deed Poll(?) bearing date the
second day of February in the Year 1760. NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that
the said James Robinson and Mary his Wife for and in Consideration of the
full and just sum of Six Hundred Pounds Good and Lawful Money of
Pennsylvania to them in Hand well and truly paid by the aforesaid James
Finley the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, and hereby do Acquit and
for ever discharge the said James Finley his Heirs and Assigns by these
presents have granted, bargained, sold, released, and confirmed, and by
these presents do grant, bargain, Sell, release, and Confirm unto the said
James Finley his Heirs and Assigns for ever ALL the above described Tract or
Parcel of Ground, Beginning at a Post adjoining Land of Samuel Cochran late
the property of Adam Burkholder thence North thirty seven degrees East one
Hundred and Eight and one half perch to a post adjoining John Kerr now the
property of the above said James Finley thence south seventy degrees East
fifty two Perches to a White Oak, thence along the same South twenty degrees
East seventy two Perches to a Black Oak, thence alongst the same south Sixty
two degrees, East one Hundred and Sixty two Perches and one half perch to a
Hickory adjoining the Land of James Stuart, thence South to a post adjoining
the land of George Kinsor formerly Gaven Mitchel's thence North Eighty two
degrees West one Hundred and Eighty six Perches to a post, thence alongst
the same North fifty three degrees West one Hundred and twenty three Perches
to the Beginning Corner, according to an old draught said Land contains one
Hundred and twenty Eight Acres and three fourths of one Acre, and the Usual
Allowance of Six p Cent for Roads & be the same more or less. Together also
with all and Singular the Buildings, Improvements, Ways, Waters,
Water-courses, Rights, Liberties, Priviledges, Hereditaments and
Appurtenances whatsoever thereunto Belonging or in any wise thereunto
Appertaining and the Reversions and Remainders therof. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
the above described Tract or Parcel of Ground with the Hereditaments and
Appurtenances hereby Granted or mentioned so to be unto the said James
Finley his Heirs and Assigns to the only proper use and Behoof of him the
said James Finley his Heirs and Assigns for ever. Subject to and under the
Residue of the Purchase Money and Quit-rent now due or to become due to the
Chief Lord or Lords of the fee thereof. And the said James Robinson and
Mary his Wife and their Heirs and Assigns the said Tract or Parcel of Ground
hereby granted or Mentioned to be granted with the Appurtenances thereunto
Belonging unto the said James Finley his Heirs and Assigns against him the
said James Robinson and Mary his Wife and their Heirs and Assigns and
against all other Person or Persons whatsoever lawfully laying any claim
thereunto shall and will for ever Warrant and defend by these presents, and
the said James Robinson and Mary his Wife and their Heirs and Assigns do
Covenant Grant and agree to and with the said James Finley and his Heirs and
Assigns that all Person or Persons whatsoever having or Lawfully claiming or
that shall or may at any time or times hereafter Claim or have any Estate,
Right, Title or Interest of in or to the said Land and Premisses hereby
granted or any part or parcel thereof shall and will from time to time and
at all times hereafter upon the reasonable Request of him the said James
Finley his Heirs and Assigns make, Execute, and acknowledge or cause so to
be all and every such farther and other Lawful and Reasonable Act and Acts,
Deed and Deeds, device and devices whatsoever that the said James his Heirs
or Assigns shall be Reasonable advised or Required by their Council learned
in law for the further and better Assuring, Conveying, and Confirming the
said Land and Premisses hereby granted, mentioned, or Intended so to be with
the Appurtenances unto the said James Finley his Heirs and Assigns. IN
WITNESS whereof the said James Robinson and Mary his Wife have hereunto set
to their Hands and Affixed their Seals the day and Year first above Written

[Note: A Margaret Kerr married a John Finley in Knox County, TN, 13 November
1793. The James Finley in this deed had a son, John, who was in Knox
County, TN at least by 1795 when he purchased property from Patrick Jack.
